Today I feel sad to be honest, this recovery process has not been easy, especially mentally.  There are days that I feel super good and my knee feels strong again.  There are other days that my knee let me know that it is not ready for some things and I feel like I am stepping backwards.
•
But everything is part of the process of going through surgery and recovery.  It is normal for that to happen. That’s why you have to know how to listen to your body when it says enough is enough.  You have to know how far you can push your body without hurting yourself again.

It is no secret that I push my body much more than I should, I always try to be careful.

All I want is to be myself again. I know the day will come, I can't lose my hopes. mindoverbody In the picture on the left I was looking for something to wear to a party. Whenever I am not blessed to go shopping with my Mom and my sister we send each other pictures... I am posed sending photos to my own Mom and sister- hand on hip, knee bent and turned in to take up less space. I wish I saw my worth and beauty then. I wish I loved myself more... even now I wish I loved myself more. I am working so hard to accept myself, love, honor, and RESPECT myself. NO SPEAKING CRUEL TO MY BODY.

In the picture on the right I was just being the silly me I am and sending a picture to my husband. That’s me goofy, silly, random as hell, a goofball as it were... I still struggle with how I view myself- but I am letting loose more and more.

Don’t get me wrong- I still pose, I still find my angles: but I don’t feel like I HAVE TO.

I am on a journey to a healthy body AND mind. A healthy mind as far as image issues, but also so much more than that. Don’t think for one second that “if I just loose the weight I will feel better!” No my friend, how you feel mentally, how you view yourself, will only change when you focus on your mental health as well 💜.

This goes even deeper- for myself I would always think “once this happens”, “once I get this”, “once I achieve this”, “once I overcome this”... but something I am learning over and over in my personal life is we can find that contentment, that peace, that happiness in the midst of our chaos.

For long distance runners, you all would know how every SECOND matters.

It's all about pushing yourself harder every single time. And it's all in the mind yo!

The doubts, the fear and the lack of confidence in ourselves thinking that... What if I don't improve this time? 
What if I fail to get a better result? 
What if I let myself and the people I care about down? 🤔

But in the end, I know we always tell ourselves, FUCK IT! LET'S GET IT DONE AND OVER WITH!

O V E R W H E L M And because you're overwhelmed and anxious and frustrated you don't know where the hell to start with it all and so you do....nothing Which makes you feel shit and so the cycle of doing nothing about your problem continues To feel more confident and capable that you can do things and achieve what you want, you need to get some early wins. More wins=more proof and more proof = MORE MOTIVATION Tis easy: pick ONE thing to start this week and ONE thing to stop. Like: . ✅START: self-monitoring your food & drink and how you felt after eating 🚫STOP: comparing your body to women on social media . ✅ START: Including one "forbidden" food into your daily diet to desensitise your negative/anxious feelings around it 🚫 STOP: telling yourself you'll never succeed... switch your self-talk to "I'm always learning...failing along the way is part of my success" . ✅ START: planning what you want and figure out why it's important to you to have it...be intentional about your decisions 🚫 STOP: mindlessly scrolling through social media Keep your promise to yourself, stick to your START/STOP and feel accomplished that you stuck to something. Once you have proven to yourself you can stick to something you'll want more of that positive feeling and that gives you motivation to keep going . What can you START/STOP this week? Keep it simple!!

Il momento presente, ORA! Questa sera, nel nostro piccolo Dojo, si riprenderà l’attività didattica, pur con qualche limitazione e, come ogni nuovo inizio, c’è sempre un po’ di paura e di incertezza. Ultimamente, siamo stati tutti "distratti" da informazioni che parlano di grandi fenomeni veri e presunti tali: crisi sanitaria, pandemia, crisi economica, movimenti, proteste, carestie, conflitti. Al contempo, tutti noi stiamo perdendo il contatto con il nostro momento presente, ovvero, con quello che viviamo tutti i giorni e, sopratutto, che facciamo tutti i giorni. Ma sappiate che TUTTE le grandi cose che costruiamo nella nostra vita sono effetto di passi quotidiani e di piccole scelte che producono grandi cambiamenti. Se restiamo solo ad osservare il film sullo schermo, non usciremo mai dal cinema a vivere la nostra vita. Bisogna tornare a focalizzarci sulla nostra routine: analizzarla, metterla in discussione, legarla alle nostre aspirazioni, al nostro benessere ed anche al benessere degli altri poiché siamo parte di un tutto, e questa pandemia dovrebbe avercelo insegnato. Pertanto, meno paure, meno rancori, meno costrizioni, più vita, più costruzione, più attività, meno passività, più focus, meno dispersione. Well, the more I read quotes, read books and watch documentaries, the more I realise that there is SO much we can learn from history, not just about physical behaviours in society but for our own wellbeing💆🏼‍♀️

Throughout the speech, Winston refers to the loneliness of the nation whilst the war went on around us. Not only that but he also highlights the strength and determination of the British people driving them to not give in or become down-hearted⚡️

Now, if they can stand tall and proud in the middle of a war, where bombs drop overhead, streets roar in flames and many people lose their lives, then we, as current individuals, can lift our heads high, stay strong and stay fierce through anything that comes our way.💃🏼

Vroeger liep ik zo’n 3 keer per week 10 km. Tot in 2015 de diagnose spondyloartritis kwam. “Lopen mag je zeker niet meer doen” kreeg ik te horen. En ook online las ik dat “belastende sporten te vermijden zijn”. De diagnose was nieuw voor me, dus ik luisterde naar het advies. Ik moest mijn lichaam opnieuw leren kennen, nieuwe grenzen accepteren en nieuwe manieren van beweging ontdekken. Ik legde me neer bij het advies en ging vooral veel wandelen en zwemmen.

Nu doe ik sinds een half jaar regelmatig yoga bij @valerieke_yoga. Gaandeweg voelde ik de kracht in mijn lichaam toenemen. Ook ben ik me dankzij yoga veel bewuster geworden van mijn lichaam en ken ik mijn grenzen. Het begon te kriebelen om toch weer te gaan lopen. Ik vond info over een trainingsprogramma in Nederland, speciaal voor mensen met reuma. De succesverhalen gaven me hoop: het kan tóch!

En dus kocht ik nieuwe loopschoenen: barefoot schoenen, zoals ik ook vóór mijn diagnose gewoon was. Deze techniek voelt heel goed voor mijn lichaam: mijn lichaam corrigeert makkelijker waar nodig. Bedankt, @iedereen_loopt, voor de snelle levering! 💪
